Auckland Council’s Public Arts team have announced calls for expressions of interest from creatives who wish to be considered for the commission of a permanent artwork(s) for the forthcoming Albany Stadium Pool. Click here for full details
Albany Stadium Pool has been designed by a consortium led by Creative Spaces and is being built by Naylor Love Construction adjacent to the North Harbour Stadium and the retail precincts alongside Don McKinnon Drive. It is the largest public facility project under construction in the Upper Harbour Local Board area. The facility aims to offer and promote ‘water fun’ and ‘learn to swim’ activities, not competitive swimming training.
A creative, or team of creatives, is sought to develop a public artwork(s) for this significant pool and leisure centre development.
Opportunities identified for public art within the pool development project include, but are not limited to:
- A large internal wall adjacent to the pool
- The external grassed area in front of the facility
- The internal airspace of the foyer or stairwell
- A light based work positioned to be visible at night from the exterior
- General pool areas
Expressions of Interest are due before 5pm on 21 October 2015.
